this week lewis and clark had their annual gender symposium (27th year). a few of us participated in workshops and their art show. to kick off the event they had photographer mary ellen mark come and speak. it was pretty weird to be a few rows from someone you admire. i think its even weirder to here her speak. her voice is like a calming mother or something.

5 things that were new to me.

1. her subject tiny has 10 children as of ‘08
2. she only shoots with film
3. she has a printer that prints all of her work in the darkroom
4. her twin series was shot at f90. wtf.
5. her husband is a filmmaker
